Dated interior featuring heavy traditional furnishings, ornate decorative elements, and warm-toned walls. The space lacked cohesion, with cluttered surfaces, mismatched lighting, and an inefficient layout that diminished the room's architectural potential and natural light.

SMID reimagined this residence with clean architectural lines, a refined monochromatic palette, and strategic spatial planning. We designed custom millwork, including an illuminated wine display and sleek media cabinetry, to anchor the space. Sara's thoughtful material selection creates an elevated atmosphere, while recessed lighting and expansive window treatments maximize natural light throughout.

Meet the Designer behind Sara Mann Interior Design

Design Journey

Sara Mann, Principal Designer and Founder of SMID, delivers over a decade of expertise collaborating with premier international design firms, luxury hospitality brands, and high-end residential developers. A Collège LaSalle graduate, she has contributed to best-in-class aviation interiors for Bombardier, acclaimed hospitality concepts, and bespoke residential projects alongside Montreal's leading architectural designers. Sara brings strategic design thinking, refined execution, and a proven track record of elevating spaces that define luxury, functionality, and brand distinction. 

Design Qualifications

Sara is pursuing a Bachelor of Interior Design at Yorkville University to qualify for NCIDQ certification, the North American standard for professional practice. She is also completing a Project Management certification at McGill University to strengthen leadership and operational excellence, while advancing her digital sketching skills through courses with MK Design to communicate spatial concepts with greater precision.
